The mission of Pop Warner Little Scholars is to enable children to benefit from participation in team sports and activities in a safe and structured environment. Pop Warner uses the sport of football with a strong emphasis on education to develop responsible young men.
What to Expect
The Avalon Pop Warner Program is a big commitment. Practices begin August 1st and will be held 4 days per week for the first 3 weeks. Practices are typically held on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday at 5:30 PM and Saturday at 9 AM, subject to weather delay/cancellation. Cancelled practices are typically made up on Wednesday evenings. After 3 weeks, practices will be held 3 days per week with a game on Saturday. Monitor our site for games times and locations. Practices last approximately 2 1/2 hours through the first 3 week’s and 2 hours thereafter. Practices are mandatory and punctuality is crucial. Practices are held at the Timber Creek High School practice fields. Please plan accordingly as failure to attend may impact your child’s ability to play in games.
A mandatory parent meeting will be held at the start of practice on August 1st with the Commissioner and Football Director in the High School Stadium stands nearest the field house. Crucial information will be provided for the season.
There will be 8 games for the season starting late August. Our website will be updated once game times and locations have been determined by Mid-Florida Pop Warner. Home games will be held at the Timber Creek High School stadium.
Equipment pickup will be held in June at a date, time and location to be determined. All forms and full payment are due at this time. Please visit the forms and policies page on this website to download the required forms and review our policies. Please be aware our refund policy is strictly enforced. Failure to provide all documentation at equipment pickup will impact your child’s ability to practice on August 1st.
Avalon Wolves will provide each participant a helmet, shoulder pads, practice jersey, game uniform, mouth piece and 7-piece pant’s pad set. Parents must provide practice pants, cleats and any other equipment your child requires.
The Football Director will make the determination as to which team a participant is to be placed. If on the first day of practice, a player weighs 6 lbs or more than the maximum weight for a division then the player may be placed in the next higher division, if they meet the age requirement and there is room on the roster. If they do not meet the age requirement or there is no open roster spots, then they will be unable to play. This is a national Pop Warner rule.
Please note, we are a guest of the Timber Creek High School. Our partnership with the High School is unique for youth football programs in the Avalon/Timber Creek area. Parents, participants and other attendees are asked to adhere to school staff instructions and requests. Please do not contact school administrators regarding our program. Direct all inquires, concerns, or complaints to the appropriate coach, team parent, or board member. We ask that you respect the school facilities by driving carefully, using appropriate language, and placing your refuse in the proper receptacle. Smoking and pets are strictly prohibited.
