Pop Warner is the ONLY youth football program (local, regional and national) that sets and enforces a strict AGE & WEIGHT MATRIX that reduces the risk and reality of injuries. We are also the only national youth sports organization in America that rewards its members for their outstanding performance in the classroom. Avalon Wolves is a family and we strive for excellence together!
Registration each year opens towards the end of Winter (follow us on Facebook for the exact date). Each participant (ages 5-14) will need to register online at BLUE SOMBRERO. Previous participants will be placed on a team first. All others will be placed on a waiting list for their respective team (based on their age and weight). Pop Warner places value on safety measures that make a difference. In addition to being Age and Weight restricted, we have also done things in football like reduce contact to 25% of practice time, eliminate kickoffs for our youngest divisions and require that any player who suffers a suspected head injury receive medical clearance from a concussion specialist before returning to play. We recondition our helmets EVERY year to ensure effectiveness.
Our season starts August 1st. Each player is required to condition for 10 hours before they can begin tackle football practice. We practice Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Our preseason game, Jamboree, will be held on a Saturday, August 17. The regular season beginning, August 24th is comprised of 8 games. Depending on the team's record, playoffs are to follow for MM and above. JPW and above compete for a spot at Disney.
Players are issued a helmet, soft shell chin strap, shoulder pads, football pants pads if needed, game pants, practice jersey and 2 game jersys. This equipment must be returned at the end of the season. In addition to the above, players will be issued one moldable mouth guard at no cost.
Players will need to provide their own cleats and pracrtice pants.
